Brad Bryant knew that he probably wouldn't match his first-round score at the Jeld-Wen Tradition.

Sure enough, he followed his sterling 10-under 62 with an even-par 72 yesterday, but still had a one-shot lead heading into the third round at Crosswater Golf Club in Sunriver, Ore.

"It's very rare to go really low back to back," Bryant said.

Bryant was at 10-under 134, a stroke better than defending champion Fred Funk, who had a 67 yesterday in the Champion Tour's fourth major of the year. Loren Roberts (71), John Cook (67) and Larry Mize (67) were in a group another stroke back at 8-under 136.

2 TIED IN WYNDHAM

Chris Riley shot a 7-under 63 to move to 11-under 129 and claim a share of the lead with Ryan Moore during an incomplete second round of the the Wyndham Championship at Greensboro, N.C.

It is the PGA Tour's final event before the FedExCup playoffs.

Moore was at 11 under through 17 holes and Jeff Maggert was at 10 under with one hole remaining when play was halted due to darkness with 28 players still on the course.

Hawai'i's Parker McLachlin, a Punahou alum, shot 71—139, while Dean Wilson, a Castle High alum, withdrew after nine holes. He had a first-round 71.

FUJIKAWA MISSES CUT

Hawai'i's Tadd Fujikawa matched his opening-round score of 1-over 71 yesterday, and his 2-over total of 142 was two shots above the cut in the European Tour's KLM Open at Zandvoort, Netherlands.

Fujikawa has yet to make a cut in four European Tour appearances.

Darren Clarke (67) and Peter Hedblom (66) were tied for the second-round lead at 132 at the Kennemer Golf and Country Club.

Serena gains Rogers Cup semifinals: Second-seeded Serena Williams breezed through to the semifinals of the Rogers Cup in Toronto yesterday with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Lucie Safarova. Williams will next face No. 4 Elena Dementieva, who advanced with a 6-7 (3), 6-1, 6-3 win over Samantha Stosur.
