Hawaii's Ramos will show strength at powerlift meet

Andy Ramos, Hawai'i's strongest man who is ranked in the top 10 nationally, will highlight Saturday's World Association of Benchers and Deadlifters powerlifting meet at Kamiloiki Elementary School.
Lifting will start at 9:30 a.m. with about 60 lifters competing in nine divisions.
The 6-foot-3, 360-pound Ramos is a Castle alum and a corrections officer at OCCC. He played semi-pro football with the Hawai'i Hammerheads and Sharks.
Ramos, 34, will open up with a deadlift of 700 pounds.
INLINE HOCKEY LEAGUE REGISTERING PLAYERS
The O'ahu Inline Hockey League is registering players for the upcoming season.
Roller hockey teams of all ages are available.
The league also operates a Skate Program Monday for boys and girls 10 and under. The program teaches the basics of roller hockey. Clinics also are held on Saturdays.
The league provides free use of gear.

LA HAWAIIANA'S TRAVIS MVP OF WAHINE POLO
Dori Weymouth's La Hawaiiana Team, led by tournament Most Valuable Player Danielle Travis, won last week's Wahine Polo Tournament at Waimanalo.
La Hawaiiana won all four of its matches with Travis leading all scorers with 10 goals. Team captain Tiamo Hudspeth added 5 goals. Travis, a Maui player, won a Argie polo saddle.
The Divas team finished 2-2 with Tiare Paty scoring six goals. Ulupalakua Ranch finished 1-3 with Erin Britton scoring four goals.
