Honolulu’s city auditor to retire

Honolulu’s city auditor, Leslie Tanaka, will be retiring at the end of the year, the Office of the City Auditor announced yesterday.
Tanaka was Honolulu’s first independent city auditor for the City and County of Honolulu and was appointed to the position in July 2003. He recently informed the City Council that he will not seek appointment to a second six-year term. He said is looking forward to traveling more with his wife and helping care for his 91-year-old father.

Tanaka, who is a CPA, has worked in government for almost 39 years, including at the State Auditor’s Office and Kapiolani Community College.
