Pipeline Masters surfing contest postponed
Advertiser Staff
The Billabong Pipeline Masters surfing contest is postponed today due to unfavorable conditions at the Banzai Pipeline off Ehukai Beach.
Only one more day of competition is required to determine a champion, and contest offciials have until Dec. 20 to run the final day.
A new swell is expected to arrive on O'ahu's North Shore on Tuesday, so contest officials are hopeful that the contest could run then.
Only eight surfers remain for the final day: Flynn Novak, Kelly Slater, Dane Reynolds, C.J Hobgood, Damien Hobgood, Bede Durbidge, Dean Morrison and Taj Burrow.
Novak, who is from O'ahu's North Shore, is the only Hawai'i surfer remaining.
The Vans Triple Crown of Surfing championship will also be decided on the final day of the Pipeline Masters.
Australia's Joel Parkinson and Florida's C.J. Hobgood are the two contenders for the Triple Crown title.
