Terence Knapp will share his insights on the life and legacy of Hawaii's Father Damien this weekend during a one-hour program at Kaimuki Public Library.
Knapp is an award-winning actor, director, and author. He is also an emeritus professor of theatre at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
In 1976, Knapp directed himself in the titular role in Aldyth Morris’ “Damien,” a one-man show about Father Damien. The film was broadcasted nationally on PBS and won several awards.
Father Damien de Veuster, a Roman Catholic priest known worldwide for his missionary work in Kalaupapa with Hansen's disease patients, was canonized earlier this year.
