CHICAGO — That ankle injury in the preseason set a bad tone, and Derrick Rose's recent rib problem drew a few more groans around Chicago.

This, however, should ease concerns.

Rose scored a career-high 32 points and the Bulls overcame a season-high 40 points from Joe Johnson to beat Atlanta, 101-98, in overtime last night and snap the Hawks' six-game win streak.

"I guess I did what I'm supposed to do out there tonight and we were able to win," Rose said.

He didn't want to talk about his numbers, no matter how impressive they were.

The Bulls, who trailed by as much as 14 in the first half, momentarily took the lead in the fourth. They then fell behind by nine before making another run.

Rose scored the tying basket in regulation, then hit two free throws with 10.8 seconds left in overtime to seal it.

The Hawks had a chance to tie it, but Johnson missed a 3-point attempt. Rose got the rebound and missed two free throws with 2.3 seconds left, but Chicago's Joakim Noah blocked an outlet pass to secure the win after Al Horford grabbed the rebound.

The missed free throws aside, Rose was at his best despite needing a cortisone shot for pain in his right rib cage. He's showing the explosive play that lifted him to the Rookie of the Year award last season after being limited by an inflamed tendon in his right ankle.

"My ankle's better," said Rose, who buried 14 of 24 shots. "That's really it."

Chicago's Luol Deng chipped in with 21 points and 12 rebounds.

SPURS 100, PACERS 99

Tim Duncan dunked over Roy Hibbert with 4.6 seconds left to give Spurs coach Gregg Popovich his 700th career win with a thrilling victory over visiting Indiana. Duncan let out a roar after throwing down the last of his 19 points over Hibbert, who blocked Duncan's first attempt with time winding down before the Spurs' perennial All-Star grabbed the ball back and went over Hibbert for the winning score.

CLIPPERS 112, 76ERS 107

Chris Kaman scored 24 points and Baron Davis added 20 as visiting Los Angeles beat Philadelphia in overtime. The Clippers blew a 16-point, third-quarter lead and nearly lost on Andre Iguodala's jumper as time expired in the fourth. The shot was waived off after it was ruled Iguodala did not get it off in time.

LAKERS 103, NETS 83

Kobe Bryant had 29 points and 10 rebounds to lead visiting Los Angeles over New Jersey in a matchup of the NBA's best and worst teams. Pau Gasol had 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Lakers (21-4). Devin Harris led New Jersey (2-26) with 21 points.

ROCKETS 95, THUNDER 90

Trevor Ariza scored 31 points and hit five 3-pointers, and host Houston nearly blew a 17-point, third-quarter lead. The Rockets led 50-40 at halftime, and they pushed the advantage to 58-41 in the third before the Thunder made their own run.

MAGIC 92, TRAIL BLAZERS 83

Dwight Howard had 12 points, 20 rebounds and four blocks, and Rashard Lewis added 15 points for host Orlando. Jason Williams scored 13 points and J.J. Redick chipped in 12 for Orlando.

Tyreke Evans made a reverse layup around Andrew Bogut with 0.9 seconds left, lifting visiting Sacramento over Milwaukee. Bogut's baseline jumper hit the side of the backboard as time expired. Evans scored a game-high 24 points.

Steve Nash had 15 points and 15 assists before sitting out the fourth quarter, and Phoenix improved to 10-0 at home. Amare Stoudemire had 23 points and 14 rebounds and Jason Richardson scored 22 for the Suns.

Deron Williams had 23 points and 10 assists, and Carlos Boozer added 22 points and 11 rebounds for visiting Utah. Gerald Wallace had 30 points and 13 rebounds for the Bobcats.
