Residents may notice increased flying activity off the windward coast of Oahu this afternoon because of an air exercise.

Hawaii Air National Guard F-15 Eagles, U.S. Coast Guard H-65 Dolphin helicopters and Civil Air Patrol Cessnas will fly together off the north coast of Kane’ohe Bay in the early afternoon, a Hickam Air Force Base advisory said.

The exercise is designed to allow local authorities to train in the homeland defense mission and improve coordination between the Department of Defense, Federal Aviation Administration and Department of Homeland Security.
