Moms in Hawai'i know how stubborn red-dirt stains (volcanic soil) and rust marks can be. But the women who frequent www.Hawaii.MomsLikeMe.com have some homemade solutions:
• Cream of tartar paste: Let it sit on the stain for a while, then rinse, suggests mom MelissaRio.
• "Take a bar of white Dial soap, dampen the piece of clothing and rub the bar across it, a lot. And then scrub," says a mom who goes by 89Mom94. That's a prewash treatment. If you've already dried the clothes, she says, "Forget it. Not coming out."
• TRR is the cleaner of choice for tub or toilet stains.
