NORMAN, Okla. — Oklahoma basketball player Roy Willis has been suspended from the team following his weekend arrest on a complaint of suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

A Norman police officer stopped Willis on campus at about 3 a.m. Saturday, Lt. Blake Green said Sunday. Willis was arrested without incident and taken to the Cleveland County Detention Center downtown.

The 19-year-old Atlanta resident was later released on bond.

After No. 2 Oklahoma beat Colorado 77-72 Saturday afternoon, coach Jeff Capel said Willis was "suspended indefinitely," but didn't elaborate.

Oklahoma athletic department spokesman Mike Houck said Sunday that Capel would have no additional comment.

Willis, a 6-foot-6 freshman guard, has played in 14 games this season for the Sooners, averaging 3.8 points and 1.6 rebounds per game.

In September, Willis and Oklahoma football player Frank Alexander were stabbed during an altercation at a Norman nightclub and required hospitalization.

Capel said then that Willis sustained "multiple wounds, one of which resulted in a partially collapsed lung."

According to police report, Willis and Alexander were among those caught in a melee involving guns, knives and tire irons at a private function at the club.
