An upper level low-pressure area will produce unstable atmospheric conditions across most of the state again today, the National Weather Service said.

Therefore, the threat of locally heavy showers, and a few thunderstorms, will continue through this afternoon, forecasters said.

Strengthening trade winds will gradually begin to return to most of the island chain later today and tonight as high pressure builds north of the state. These strong trade winds will carry showers into the islands, especially windward and mauka areas, from tonight through this weekend.
