KLINGENTHAL, Germany — Anssi Koivuranta of Finland won a Nordic combined World Cup event today and extended his lead in the standings.
Koivuranta covered the 10-kilometer cross-country race in 27 minutes, 16.7 seconds and left perennial rival Magnus Moan of Norway 15.4 seconds behind. Jan Schmid of Norway was third behind the Finn, who led from start to finish.
The ski jumping portion of the event was canceled Saturday because of strong wind. Results from a provisional round of jumping Friday decided the start order for the cross-country race.
Koivuranta's sixth win of the season gave him 1,133 points overall, 63 more than Moan.
