More than 900 attendees to the La Quinta National Conference at the Hilton Hawaiian Village today set what is believed to be a Guinness world record for the largest ukulele ensemble.

The group, led by Island recording artist Kelly Boy DeLima, plucked and strummed the tune "La Bamba."

The previous record for mass ukulele playing was 401 people, set in Stockholm, Sweden, in 2007.

Dallas-based La Quinta Inns & Suites operates more than 700 hotels in 45 states, Canada and Mexico. More than 1,000 people are attending the conference in Hawaii.
