An 83-year-old pedestrian who died Feb. 7 after she was struck by a hit-and-run driver near the Kam Swap Meet has been identified by the city Department of the Medical Examiner as Margaret Gordon of Aiea.
Gordon was walking uphill near the KFC restaurant around 2:15 a.m. and was partially on Kaonohi Street — but not in a crosswalk — when she was hit by a car that fled the scene, police said.
A witness described the makai-bound car as possibly a white Cadillac or a similar vehicle, police said. The car may have sustained damage to the right front or side, including damage to the right headlight or windshield, police said.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Honolulu Police Department's Traffic Investigation section at 529-3499.
Gordon, who lived in the 'Aiea area, was taken in critical condition to The Queen's Medical Center, where she died.
The death was Honolulu's 11th traffic fatality of the year, compared to seven by that date last year.
