Soldiers' families to view preparation of Iraqi food
Families of soldiers in the U.S. Army 2nd Brigade stationed in Iraq will get a taste of the food of that country in a special video teleconference tonight at Schofield Barracks.
Soldiers' families have been invited by the Army to watch a screening during which an Iraqi recipe will be demonstrated by a cultural adviser from Contingency Operating Base Speicher near Tikrit. Attendees will be able to interact with him and ask questions via satellite.
Kole Miller, who is helping organize the event, got a peek at the recipe yesterday and plans to prepare samples to be served there.
Miller said the idea is to make a hometown connection so dependents have a better idea of what their family members may be experiencing and of the culture in which they are serving.
This is one of a series of such Q&A teleconferences for family members.
