Skiing: Hospital: Albrecht needs 'highly specialized' care

BERN, Switzerland — Swiss skier Daniel Albrecht will require further specialized medical care following a downhill training crash last month.
Bern University's hospital, the Inselspital, said Friday that Albrecht needs total peace and quiet and may only be visited by immediate friends and family.
"The complex injuries he sustained continue to require highly specialized medical treatment," the hospital said in a statement. It did not elaborate.
Albrecht was transferred from Austria to Switzerland on Sunday to continue his recovery from brain and lung injuries suffered in the Jan. 22 crash in Kitzbuehel. Doctors have said he should make a full recovery.
Albrecht, who won two World Cup races this season and is 10th in the overall standings, was the 2007 super-combined world champion.
