MILAN — The vice president of AC Milan says the club's offer of $3 million for David Beckham was the market rate and it won't be increased.

The Los Angeles Galaxy recently turned down the offer, calling it 'ridiculous.' Adriano Galliani said in Saturday editions of La Gazzetta dello Sport there won't be another offer.

"Absolutely not," Galliani said. "I have experience of knowing a player's value and in the European market it doesn't make any sense to spend more. Milan has made an offer that it feels is right for a loan of about eight months ... from Nov. 30, David will be available for zero."

Beckham has a clause in his Galaxy contract that would allow him to leave at the end of this year.

Beckham made a return to European soccer midweek, appearing at the end of Milan's 1-1 tie to Werder Bremen. It was the first match he hasn't started since joining Milan on loan in December. But he has struggled with a calf injury since a recent game against Spain.

"We don't want any controversy, we're thankful to Galaxy for loaning us Beckham these past few months," Galliani said. "In the States they look at commercial aspects, whereas in Europe transfers are based on technical aspects. The budget at my disposal is already at a maximum between transfer fee and wages."
