RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina State has begun the difficult task of finding a permanent replacement for Kay Yow.
Yow was the face of the Wolfpack women's basketball program for three decades before her death last month following a long fight against cancer. The school has taken the first steps in a national search with the goal of having someone in place by early April.
Interim coach Stephanie Glance is considered by many to be a strong candidate, especially because Yow had hoped her longtime assistant would be her successor. Athletic director Lee Fowler says the most important thing is to conduct a thorough search to "end up with the right person" — whether that's Glance or someone else.
The Wolfpack wraps up the regular season this weekend.
