Hawaii-born chef eliminated from 'Top Chef'
Gene Villiatora, the Hawai'i-born chef now living in Las Vegas, was eliminated last night from Bravo's "Top Chef New York" after his whole, deep-fried fish with daikon, tomato and basil sauce failed to impress the judges during the show's seventh episode.
The 33-year-old Villiatora, who graduated from Leilehua High School, was one of 17 chefs who began the competition in November. The top prize is $100,000 seed money for a restaurant.
