Weather: Clear this morning, a few showers later

Light winds will continue across the state through tomorrow, the National Weather Service said.

Nights and mornings are expected to be clear and cool, but sea breezes will bring cloudy afternoons, forecasters said.

The atmosphere will be too dry and stable for much rainfall. Southwest winds will strengthen Thursday and push some showers over the islands.

A front will reach Kauai by Friday morning. The front will bring rain and gusty winds as it moves down to the Big Island by Saturday morning. Drier weather and moderate trade winds will prevail from Saturday afternoon through Sunday. The trades will die by Sunday night as the ridge moves back over the islands.

Here's a closer look at the next few days:

Today: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 79. South wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Isolated showers before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 77. South wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Southwest wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Thursday: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. West wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Thursday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. Southwest wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
