TORONTO — The Blue Jays and reliever Brandon League of Honolulu agreed today to $640,000, one-year contract.
The 25-year-old right-hander was 1-2 with one save and 2.18 ERA in 31 relief appearances last season, allowing 28 hits in 33 innings. He has spent his five-year Major League career with the Blue Jays.
League is a 2001 graduate of Saint Louis School.
Toronto has five players remaining in arbitration: relievers Jeremy Accardo, Shawn Camp, Jason Frasor and Brian Tallet, and utilityman Jose Bautista.
J.P. Ricciardi hasn't gone to arbitration with a player since taking over as Blue Jays general manager in 2001.
