Turtle Bay is offering complimentary rental clubs for a seven-day period after an 18-hole club rental purchase on either the Arnold Palmer or George Fazio courses.

"With the increases in baggage fees for airlines, this allows the golfing traveler an easy solution to whether they should bring their clubs with them to Hawai'i," said Kevin Carll, PGA Head Pro at the Fazio Course.

Golfers need to pay the 18-hole club rental fee of $55 initially and can use any of the rental sets free for the next week. Turtle Bay has replaced its rental sets with new Titleist AP1 irons, Titleist 909 drivers and Scotty Cameron putters. Regular and stiff flex sets are available. Other sets available include Taylor Made and Callaway. Cobra rentals are available for women.

Previous Cobra rental sets are being sold for $350 (plus tax). Sets include a graphite driver, 3- and 5-wood, 4-iron to pitching wedge, sand, gap and lob wedges and putter.

Also new this year is a $15 walking rate on the Fazio Course after 3 p.m. daily. Junior walking rates are $5. Rates include bag tag and practice balls.

CHARITIES BENEFIT

Over the past five years, Mauna Lani Resort's Francis H. I'i Brown Golf Courses have hosted more than 40 events for Big Island charities. At the fifth annual Mauna Lani Charity Cup Challenge last month, two-person teams representing all the participating organizations competed, with Sharon Goodman and Bo Waite, from West Coast Hawai'i Little League, winning. Goodman and Waite earned $1,150 for their organization.

The Mauna Lani courses have donated an additional $15,000 to the charities through the Challenge the past five years.

Mauna Lani Resort will again offer participation in the Mauna Lani Charity Cup to all Big Island 501 (c) (3) organizations this year. KO'OLAU SPECIALS

Ko'olau Golf Club has two specials on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 1. The Kane'ohe course will send players out for a 7 a.m. shotgun start, at a special rate of $49 for kama'aina and $110 for visitors. Green fee includes cart and a sleeve of Nike Power Distance golf balls. The special is limited to the first 72 golfers to sign up by calling 236-4653, ext. 1. Ko'olau also has a Super Twilight rate that day. It starts at noon and is $20 for kama'aina and $40 for visitors. Golfers who wear NFL team clothing that day get a free basket of range balls when they sign up to play.
