Fresno State tops UH in women's basketball

Ashley Walker scored 17 points, Jaleesa Ross added 15 and Hayley Munro had 14 as Fresno State beat Hawai'i, 71-45, tonight in a Western Athletic Conference women's basketball game at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Bulldogs hit 12 of 38 3-point attempts, including five each from Ross and Walker.

Fresno State improved to 13-6 overall and 4-2 in the WAC. Hawai'i dropped its seventh straight and fell to 3-15 and 0-5.

Fresno State went on a 27-4 run to take a 40-18 advantage with 52 seconds left in the first half.

Hawai'i got as close as 16 twice in the second half, but the Bulldogs went on a 12-2 run to end the game.

Megan Tinnin scored 14 points to lead the Rainbow Wahine, who used a platoon system for much of the game.

Hawai'i started guards Catherine Cho and Keisha Kanekoa, and forwards Tara Hittle, Dita Liepkalne and Ebony Jones.

At the under-16 minute timeout, they were replaced by Briauna Linton, Jennifer Hamilton, Tinnin, Breanna Arbuckle and Allie Patterson.

The units rotated approximately every four minutes from then on until midway through the second half. By that time, UH trailed by 20.
