Schofield Barracks welcomes public to 4th of July Spectacular

The public is invited to U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii’s 38th annual Fourth of July Spectacular on Schofield Barracks’ Sills field.
The daylong event, starting at 8 a.m., features food, game booths, midway rides, music by the iconic rock band Kansas, fireworks and the chance to win prizes like a brand new car.
For those wanting a little competition, there will be a 1K run for children, 5K run for adults, and a greased pole-climbing contest for those who like a challenge.
The fireworks display starts at 8:30 p.m. The highlight of the display will comes when the 43rd Army Band of the Nebraska Army National Guard plays the “1812 Overture” accompanied by live cannon fire.
All four gates to Schofield will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to midnight.
Vehicle occupants must have photo identification, and drivers must possess a valid vehicle registration and proof of insurance to enter the post. All vehicles, backpacks and coolers will be subject to search.
Attendees are reminded to leave pets and high-back chairs at home, as they will not be allowed on Sills Field. Additionally, fireworks, sparklers, glass containers and firearms are not permitted.
