Weak trades, hot and humid again today

Trade winds will remain light again today before increasing a bit on Friday, the National Weather Service said.

A high pressure area building north of the islands should strengthen trade wind flow beginning tomorrow, forecasters said.
Expect clouds and showers to favor mauka areas this afternoon and evening, with clearing expected at night.
Clouds and showers will favor windward and mauka areas as trade winds return.

Here’s a closer look at what to expect as we head into the weekend:

Today: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 85. East wind 5 to 7 mph becoming south. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. Southeast wind between 8 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Friday: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. East wind between 11 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. East wind between 11 and 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Independence Day: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. East wind between 11 and 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
