For the second year in a row, runners and walkers are invited to honor local endurance athlete Vi Jones-Medusky in a four-mile race Sept. 20 at Kualoa Ranch. Jones-Medusky suffers from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig's disease. She finished several marathons, Ironman triathlons and ultramarathons before she was diagnosed in 2004. She hopes to use a wheelchair to navigate the course.

Organizers hope the event will help raise awareness of the disease and call attention to the need for funding to help find a cure. All net proceeds will be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association's ALS division and provide immediate support for 50 local households living with the disease in Hawai'i.

The entry fee is $20 and includes a T-shirt featuring artwork by late local artist Peggy Chun, who suffered from ALS from 2002 to 2008.

TATTOOLICIOUS ARTIST JOINS 'HIGHWAY'

If you like your reality shows with local flavor, you might want to check out "Tattoo Highway."

Amy Wagner (far right, above) of Honolulu's Tattoolicious joined the team of tattoo artists in the unscripted series on A&E last night. If you missed it, reruns air throughout the week, with new episodes premiering at 7 and 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Wagner has worked for Tattoolicious for the past three years and her art can also be seen at art venues, clothing stores and, of course, on bodies.

"Tattoo Highway" is a show that follows artist Thomas Pendelton (second from right) as he travels the country in a mobile tattoo parlor of his own design.
