Firefighters contain 25-acre wildfire burning near park
Honolulu firefighters yesterday afternoon contained a wildfire that burned about 25 acres just west of Central O'ahu Regional Park.
Fire Capt. Terry Seelig said firefighters responded to the blaze about 11:30 a.m. and had the fire contained by about 1 p.m. Crews remain on the scene mopping up.
Seelig said 45 firefighters, eight engines, three tankers and the department's helicopter, which was used for aerial observation and coordination of units on the ground, were deployed.
Seelig said the fire did not get close to any homes.
