Korean film free at Sunset on Beach
By Jeff Chung
The 8th annual Korean Festival has been expanded by a day and coordinated with the city's Sunset on the Beach program to air the Korean film "Lump of Sugar" at 7:30 p.m. at Queen's Beach on July 10.
Mayor Mufi Hannemann gave me the idea to have a Korean film at Sunset on the Beach at last year's festival. So, with the help of the City and County of Honolulu, CJ Entertainment, KBFD TV, Palama Supermarkets, the Hawaii Korean Chamber of Commerce, the Waikiki Improvement Association, HTA and Tesoro, "Lump of Sugar" will screen, free to the public.
Actress Lim Soo Jung stars as Si-eun. She' s known for her hit TV series "I'm Sorry, I Love You" and several films.
She plays a girl raised with horses, who has a special bond with Thunder, since both have lost their mothers. Two years after Thunder is sold to another ranch, Si-eun is training to become a jockey. She comes face to face with Thunder, and they instantly know each other.
Si-eun helps Thunder regain lost abilities as a racehorse.
In the end, the two enter a competition. Surrounded by a crowd of cheering onlookers, they prepare to race one last time.
