MLB: Yankees' Wang goes on DL with shoulder injury
Associated Press
NEW YORK — Yankees starter Chien-Ming Wang has been put on the disabled list with a right shoulder strain, and manager Joe Girardi said he's not sure when to expect him back.
Girardi said today that Wang won't begin throwing until at least after the All-Star break.
Wang allowed four runs and six hits before being replaced in the sixth inning Saturday, then went for an MRI exam that revealed the shoulder strain and bursitis.
He also missed time earlier this season with weakness in the adductor muscles in his hips, but had been better of late and earned his first win in his previous start.
Girardi said he's not sure who will start in Wang's place on Thursday. The Yankees recalled reliever Jonathan Albaladejo from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to fill his roster spot.
