MLB: Manny Ramirez not in L.A.'s lineup against Padres

SAN DIEGO — Manny Ramirez was not in the Los Angeles Dodgers' starting lineup for the first time since he returned from a 50-game drug suspension on Friday.
Ramirez was given the day off by manager Joe Torre to allow him to return slowly to the majors after he missed 50 games for violating major league baseball's drug policy.
"I want to give him a chance to rest his legs," said Torre, who added that Ramirez is available to pinch hit.
Ramirez, who has come out after six innings in both of his two games back, hit his first post-drug suspension home run Saturday. The solo homer was Ramirez's seventh of the season and tied Jimmie Foxx for 16th on the all-time list with 534.
Ramirez is 1-for-6 with a walk.
