WAILUKU, Maui — Two Maui teenagers have been fatally injured in a one-car crash in Kula early today.
Officials say a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were back seat passengers in the car that carried five people.
Police say the car was headed north on Kula Highway early today when it went out of control and hit the guardrail before it crossed the center line and crashed into the guardrail on the opposite of the roadway.
Four of the people in the car were ejected. Police say they apparently weren’t wearing seat belts.
The conditions of the three survivors were not released.
Police are investigating to determine if speed, drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
