Couples flock to Hawai'i from all over the world to enjoy a summer wedding, toes in the sand, waves crashing on the shore and a beautiful Hawaiian sunset in the background ... but no bride should go anywhere near the water in this dress, made entirely of toilet paper, glue and tape.
Ann Kagawa Lee, of Honolulu, won the grand prize in the fifth annual Toilet Paper Wedding Dress contest at a Web site devoted to providing ways to save money on weddings, www.Cheap-Chic-Weddings.com.
Judges compared Lee's dress, inspired by the movie "Gone With the Wind" and Japanese origami, to those of couture designer Oscar De La Renta. The top three winners were awarded prize money and the top six dresses will be displayed in a Ripley's Believe It Or Not! Museum.
