WAC renews Bowl Championship Series agreement with ESPN

The Western Athletic Conference Board of Directors voted unanimously today to sign the Bowl Championship Series renewal agreement with ESPN while also expressing its concerns about the present BCS structure.
WAC Commissioner Karl Benson said the conference will be submitting a letter voicing its "concerns about the current structure (of the BCS)."
Benson said, "We believe that interest being shown by Sen. (Orrin) Hatch is valid and that we would hope that there will be continued scrutiny about the current BCS structure."
The WAC and Mountain West have been the last two conferences to commit to the new agreement that will run through 2013.
The Mountain West has been pushing Congress to look into postseason inequities and Hatch, a Utah senator, held a hearing on the subject yesterday in Washington D. C.
The matter had been before the WAC's board — composed of presidents and chancellors of the nine member schools — for about a month.
Tomorrow was listed as the deadline by which conferences were to be on board in order to participate in or receive BCS payments from the 2010 season through 2013.
The Mountain West has yet to say whether it will sign.
