Shenanigans and satire on stage at Kumu Kahua
| |||
You may not find political correctness in Kumu Kahua’s summer remount of “Da Mayah,” but you will find spot-on political satire that will make you laugh … and might even make you sing.
The play by Lee Cataluna centers on shenanigans in the mayor’s office in Hilo, where staffers — and gangsters — make up for elected officials’ deficiencies, and plate lunches are given their due heft. Karaoke interludes add to the fun.
The show runs through July 26 at 8 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays, but there’s no performance tonight. Tickets are $5-$16. For more information, call 536-4441 or visit www.kumukahua.org.
