HILO — A Hilo man has been charged with robbery and felony theft in two separate incidents.
Hawaii County police say 20-year-old Keoni K. Kaopio is being held in the Hilo cellblock in lieu of $7,000 bail.
Police allege that on July 3, Kaopio approached a 29-year-old man in the area of the Bayfront soccer fields, swore at him and called him a name, then punched and kicked him about the head and body before taking his wallet.
Police say that on July 12, Kaopio took a 69-year-old man's wallet while both men were near Hilo Union School.
Kaopio was arrested and charged Monday morning.
