TONIGHT'S MUST SEES

'MICHAEL AND MICHAEL HAVE ISSUES,' 7:30 P.M., COMEDY CENTRAL

Last week's debut was good; tonight's episode is even better, filled with neatly off-center humor.
Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter star as twisted, self-centered versions of themselves. Tonight, they decide to get their boss some marijuana for his birthday; things go wildly wrong.
One highlight is Showalter's frantic attempt to lie about Black's absence. Another comes when the Michaels deliver a don't-do-pot commercial, then modify it with lots of exceptions. Once the kids are in bed, this is a delight for their parents.

Most Hollywood producers told Tyler Perry his play wouldn't work as a movie. Made for $5 million, “Diary of a Mad Black Woman” grossed $50 million.
Other films have brought Perry's total to $370 million. He also has cable comedies (“House of Payne” and “Meet the Browns” air from 8-11 p.m. today on TBS) and his own Atlanta studio and back lot.
It's a fascinating story, clouded by the question of whether Perry sinks to low-brow humor.
Soledad O'Brien reports on it well, offering the best moments in a muted evening. Other stories view attempts to save marriages, help ex-convicts and treat a fierce form of breast cancer.
