The Honolulu Marathon took in 4,802 entries during the eight-day special early registration period, about 1,400 more than last year.

Hawaii residents and military paid only $30 during the early period, which ended Sunday. The fee is now $85 until Oct. 30, when it increases to $115.
Entries after Nov. 13 will cost $225.
The race will be held Dec. 13.
