Chef James McDonald, partners Louis Coulombe and Stephan Bel-Robert, and the crew of Pacific'O and I'o restaurants on Maui have opened 'Aina Gourmet Market, a fine foods store and cafe in the Honua Kai Resort & Spa, 130 Kai Malina Parkway, near Lahaina. The store's wares are based on the "locavore" 100-mile concept: As much as possible will be harvested or produced within 100 miles of the shop, said manager Angel Green.
Among the items: farm-fresh eggs, organic produce, meats, wines, chocolates, coffees and local fruit gelato from vendors such as Olowalu Farms, Ono Farms, Maui Cattle Co., Anahona Granola, Oils of Aloha, Maui Brewing Co. and the market's own O'o farm in Kula.
