Hawaiian Airlines extends contract with Pratt & Whitney
Hawaiian Airlines has extended for another five years its exclusive agreement to use Pratt & Whitney's EcoPower engine wash service.
The engine wash system, which reduces fuel burn by as much as 1.2 percent, is used on Hawaiian’s fleet of PW4060, CF6-80A2 and Trent700 engines, the companies announced yesterday at the Paris Air Show. The wash system eliminates three pounds of carbon dioxide emissions for every pound of fuel saved, while decreasing engine gas temperature and increasing the amount of time an engine can stay on wing. “Hawaiian Airlines has benefited from significant cost savings as a result of the EcoPower engine wash service,” said Dennis Manibusan, vice president, maintenance and engineering for Hawaiian. “Pratt & Whitney's EcoPower system allows our airline to operate more effectively and efficiently, saving us time and money,” he said.
