WIMBLEDON, England — Top-ranked Dinara Safina has reached the fourth round
at Wimbledon for the first time by defeating Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium 7-5, 6-1.
Safina had lost in the third round on three previous occasions at The All England Club and is still looking for her first Grand Slam title.
The Russian saved all four break points she faced against Flipkens on Saturday, and broke for the fourth time to seal the match.
The 110th-ranked Flipkens lost in the first round in her only previous Wimbledon appearance in 2006.
