Fire investigators report school blaze set intentionally
A fire that caused about $2,000 in damage to a classroom at Wai'anae Elementary School on Sunday night was intentionally set, fire Capt. Terry Seelig said yesterday.
Seelig said a fire investigator's findings have been sent to police.
The fire was reported shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday and was quickly extinguished by firefighters.
Seelig said an employee of the school helped contain the fire until firefighters arrived. Seelig said the person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
An initial report indicated the person had been taken to a hospital for treatment.
Seelig also said there was damage to the door of the school's library.
