Documentary on Patsy Mink to be shown at Kauai Community College

LIHUE — A documentary film about the late U.S. Rep. Patsy Mink will be shown at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Kauai Community College, followed by a question and answer session with the filmmaker. There is no admission charge.
"Patsy Mink: Ahead of the Majority" was written, produced and directed by Kimberlee Bassford, a Punahou School graduate and owner of Making Waves Films, a documentary production company in Honolulu.
The film explores the life and times of Mink, the first woman of color in Congress and co-author of the landmark Title IX gender equity legislation.
The film won the Audience Award for Favorite Documentary and was nominated for a Golden Orchid Award for Best Documentary at the 2008 Hawaii International Film Festival.
