LAUSANNE, Switzerland — Three cities are in the running to host swimming's world championships in 2013.
The candidates are Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Hamburg, Germany; and Moscow.
Governing body FINA announced the short list Tuesday after four contenders dropped out: Belgrade, Serbia; Budapest and Balatonfured, Hungary; Hong Kong; and Madrid.
FINA's executive bureau will pick the winner July 18 during the next worlds in Rome.
The biennial event — with medals awarded in swimming, diving, open water swimming, synchronized swimming and water polo — will be held in Shanghai in 2011.
