New Ka'u Coffee Festival set for April
With coffee growing expanding in the area, the Ka'u district of Hawai'i island is launching a festival to celebrate its new industry, the Ka'u Coffee Festival, April 24-26 in Pahala.
Events include a Miss Ka'u Coffee Pageant; a free ho'olaule'a with entertainment, a coffee tasting, food, educational displays, farmer meet-and-greets, arts, crafts and children's games; a Ka'u Coffee Recipe Contest, a Coffee Song Contest and a day-long "Coffee Academy," offering workshops on farming and processing.
Coffees grown on the hillsides of Ka'u have earned high rankings in competitions and at cupping tables. Information: kaucoffeefestival.com; 808-929-9550.
