State says 2,000-gallon wastewater spill reported at Pearl Harbor

The state Department of Health's Clean Water Branch said today it has been notified by the Navy of a wastewater spill at Pearl Harbor, near Merry Point Landing.

The state said the spill happened at about 12:30 p.m. and involved an estimated 2,000 gallons of wastewater that entered a storm drain that empties into the harbor.

Warning signs were immediately posted along Merry Point Landing area and water samples will be taken. Signs will remain posted until bacteria levels return to normal.

The impacted area is not a recreational waters, but the public is advised to stay away from the area.
