NFL: Eagles sign safety Rashad Baker to 1-year deal

Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Eagles signed safety Rashad Baker to a one-year contract Wednesday, adding another defensive back to a revamped secondary. He spent the last two seasons with Oakland.

Baker is the second safety the Eagles have signed since losing seven-time Pro Bowl pick Brian Dawkins (Denver) and backup Sean Considine (Jacksonville) in free agency.

Baker, who is from nearby Camden, N.J., had 24 tackles and a career-high three interceptions for the Raiders last season.

The Eagles free agent Sean Jones a one-year deal last week. Jones and second-year pro Quintin Demps are expected to compete for the starting spot at free safety.

Baker signed as a rookie free agent with Buffalo in 2004. He played two seasons with the Bills and spent time with Minnesota and New England before going to Oakland.
