POP ART AFTER DARK
According to the creative minds behind the ARTafterDARK program, tonight's event, themed "15 Seconds of Fame," is an "ode to one of the most influential figures in art — Andy Warhol — and the twisted ideas of popularity and celebrity that so often influenced his work and impact our lives daily."
See a special showing of the academy's Warhol pieces, "Vesuvius," "Electric Chair" and "Race Riot," and create your own Warhol-inspired four-tile image of yourself at the on-site Apple computer lab.
AADers are asked to bring cans of soup (inspired, of course, by Warhol's famous Campbell's soup series) to be donated to the Institute of Human Services.
Rounding out the pop theme will be Nocturnal Sound Krew on the turntables spinning one-hit wonders from the '70s, '80s, '90s and now.
6-9 tonight / Honolulu Academy of Arts / $10, free for members / 532-8700
