Save trees and oxygen by recycling Sunday newspaper
Advertiser Staff
A few simple changes during the year can make every day Earth Day:
If you recycle your Sunday paper every week, you will keep four trees alive per year and increase the earth's oxygen.
If you cut out one 20-mile car trip each week by completing errands at once rather than making separate trips, you will prevent more than 1,200 pounds of greenhouse gas from being emitted and adding to global warming.
If you recycle a six-pack of aluminum cans every week, you will save enough energy to power a television for 936 hours.
If you cut five minutes from your daily shower, you will save up to 9,000 gallons of water a year.

ENVIRONMENTALLY GENTLE SCRUB-DOWN
Remove soap scum from the sink and bath with this alternative all-purpose cleaner: half a cup of vinegar mixed with one quart of water in a spray bottle. Spray, wait 30 seconds, then scrub away. Rinse with hot water, says Elizabeth Goldsmith, author of "Green Cleaning for Dummies" and a professor at Florida State University. It may be necessary to apply some elbow grease.
