Fire rescue personnel early this evening recovered the body of a woman in the area near Pearl City High School where they had been searching for a 63-year-old woman who has been missing since May 3.
The description of the woman and her clothing is consistent with that of Gail Yoshida, who was reported missing after she went to walk her dog.
The body was found in a ravine in Waimano Valley, four to five miles above Pearl City High School, officials said.
The body was in an area that is difficult to reach, but rescue personnel were able to recover it before dark, officials said.
Earlier in the day, about 1:30 p.m., Yoshida's dog was found alive near Pearl City High School.
Yoshida, whom relatives say has no history of dementia, regularly walked her dog, a white Jack Russell terrier, in the area of Waimano Trail.
She was last seen about 3 p.m. May 3 when she left her home to walk her dog.
Yoshida is described as 5 feet 4 and about 125 pounds.
She was last seen wearing a green, long-sleeved sweater, blue shorts and a red and blue baseball cap.
In the days following her disappearance, family members and Pearl City High students and staff conducted extensive search efforts for Yoshida.
