As a precaution, the city’s Department of Customer Services will keep the Kalihi/Kapalama Satellite City Hall and the Motor Vehicle License & Permitting at City Square closed again today and throughout the weekend.

The city says it expects to reopen the building on Monday. The facilities at 1199 Dillingham Blvd. were vacated yesterday after the Honolulu Fire Department responded to a complaint of an unknown odor.
The state Office of Hazard Evaluation and Emergency Response took samples and reported that the odor is from the petroleum product naphthalene, a medium grade fuel oil, which became exposed by a contractor working in the area.
It is being treated as a nuisance rather than a health hazard. However, workers or customers who are exposed to the odor may experience headaches or nausea.
Satellite and motor vehicle services will continue, and the public is being directed to Ala Moana and Fort Street malls.
Pearlridge, Hawaii Kai, Windward City and Fort Street offices provide driver’s license services for renewals and duplicates.
All other driver licensing services and permit road testing are being redirected to the following alternate locations:
— Kapolei substation, 1000 Uluohia Street.
— Koolau substation, 47-388 Hui Iwa Street, Kaneohe.
— Wahiawa substation, 330 North Cane Street.
— Waianae substation (Monday and Wednesday only), 895-670 Farrington Highway.
