Missing woman's body located near Kona airport
The body of a 48-year-old Kealakekua woman who had been missing since May 4 was found early Tuesday evening near the Kona airport, Hawai'i County police said.
Acting on a tip, police and fire rescue personnel conducted an aerial search and found Everdina Malasig's body in a lava field about 100 yards off the west shoulder of Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway and just south of the OTEC park entrance.
Police said they do not suspect foul play, but have ordered an autopsy.
Malasig was last seen leaving Keahole Airport. At the time of her disappearance, Malasig was suffering from a condition requiring medication, police said.
